Grant Applications Now Open-Up to $25,000

The ING Foundation has opened applications for their latest grants program. There are three grants of up to $25,000 available to charities that are seeking funding for initiatives that aim to assist young people in realising their potential.

“ING DIRECT is keen to help groups who are doing great work in the community. We look forward to furthering the efforts of the three worthy recipients,” said ING DIRECT CEO, Don Koch.

Applications must meet all of the below selection criteria to be considered for an ING Foundation grant:

  1. Must be registered with the Australian Taxation Office as an approved charity(Deductible Gift Recipient covered by item 1 of the table in section 30-15 of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997)
  2. Must be innovative in the way it delivers programs/services to young people in need;
  3. Must address at least one of the below focus areas*:
    - Youth Disadvantage
    - Education
    - Youth Health and Mental Health
  4. Must help young people to 'realise their potential'

Advocates for young and vulnerable Australians are optimistic after the federal government announced an increase of $4 a week to people on Newstart and Youth Allowance.

Executive Director of the Australian Youth Affairs Coalition, Andrew Cummings is campaigning for an increase for people on the lowest benefit schemes.

He said he was pleased that this year’s federal budget recognised that Newstart and Youth Allowance provide too little to live on.
