Heywire Winners release report on how to make life better for young people in regional Australia

In February 2011, AYACs Maia Giordano sat on the expert panel at the 2011 Heywire Youth Issues Forum. The 2011 Heywire Winners have now released a report on how to make life better for young people in regional Australia...

In the past 13 years over 6000 young australians have shared their stories with Heywire. Each year, every ABC regional station chooses a winning entry from their area. The winners attend the Heywire Youth Issues Forum, participating in leadership, networking and skill building activities during the week, and have the chance to meet with Members of Parliament, Australian youth sector leaders and ABC staff.
In February this year, AYAC’s Maia Giordano (Deputy Director – Young People) sat on the Heywire forum expert panel, as 2010-2011 winners presented to the panel issues that are important to them, and pitched ideas to improve the lives of young people in their communities.
The 2010-11 Heywire winners have now released a report featuring the project proposals that they began developing at the 2011 Heywire Youth Issues Forum -- ideas aimed at improving life for young people in regional, rural and remote Australia.

Details of the report can be found on the Heywire website: abc.net.au/heywire . Or you can download the full report here: http://www.abc.net.au/reslib/201105/r759986_6377632.pdf

AYAC is very excited to see the report, and extends its congratulations both to Heywire, and its participants!
